Reusable Aluminium Extrusion Packaging System
The K-PAK packaging system was specially developed through the collaboration of two Australian companies ,Injection moulders Ozkor Pty Ltd and aluminium extruder Capral. As leaders in their field they identified a need to reduce the aluminium extrusion industry’s dependency on single use disposable packaging and focussed their combined skills on finding a better way to package extrusions.
K-PAK is a reusable packaging system and provides the opportunity to make very significant financial savings by eliminating the need to purchase disposable packaging alternatives while at the same time cutting costs allocated to waste disposal.
By introducing a closed loop reusable distribution system, K-Pak gives all industry stake holders a better ,more sustainable packaging option as well as increasing product protection when in transit.
Trials have shown a return on investment can be achieved within 5- 6 journey’s. Thereafter, the savings continue to increase over time resulting in a more efficient , more profitable and a more sustainable packaging operation.
Financial modelling shows that after 10-12 rotations a reduction of packaging costs of up to 60 % can be achieved for a plant producing 8,500 tonnes per annum.With an average pack size of 225 kgs, estimated savings in the region of $0.5million could be achieved.*
The adjustable side uprights provides the flexibility to pack extrusions in different bundle heights. Once unpacked the K-Pak assemblies can be flat packed for an easy return to the supplier for re-use.
